Pickin'
First things first. Say "Howdy" to Guillermo.

HE'S OUR FARM FOREMAN & HE'S IN CHARGE OUT THERE! We rely on him to decide which rows ARE & ARE NOT open for picking. If he has rows TAPED OFF, he means: NO PICKIN' IN THOSE ROWS. PLEASE RESPECT THIS! He has the authority to ask you to leave, so behave yourselves out there!

COME BACK UP TO THE FRUIT STAND WHEN YOU'RE DONE. We'll weigh your berries & charge by the pound. Remember-U-BUY WHAT U-PICK!

Thanks for your cooperation, Folks! And have fun!

U-PICK FIELD RULES

PLEASE HAVE BERRIES WEIGHED &
PAID FOR BEFORE YOU START EATING THEM.
"Grazers" will be asked to leave.

KIDS 12 & UNDER MUST HAVE ADULT SUPERVISION AT ALL TIMES.
This means: STICK WITH 'EM & PICK WITH 'EM.
Make sure they're picking RIPE BERRIES that YOU WANT to BUY.

PLEASE - NO WALKING BETWEEN PLANTS!
It knocks berries off the plants - and breaks the branches.
People who do not respect this rule WILL be asked to leave.

ONLY CERTAIN ROWS ARE OPEN FOR PICKING
ROWS THAT ARE TAPED OFF ARE NOT OPEN THIS DAY.
If you see a group of people picking in the restricted area
THOSE ARE OUR PICKERS. DO NOT PICK IN THE CLOSED ROWS.

PICK ONLY THE RIPEST BERRIES FROM EACH CLUSTER.
Ripe blueberries are DARK PURPLE all the way around.
Leave the greener berries on the bush to be picked later in the season.
Please BE GENTLE WITH OUR PLANTS!

GRAB A BUCKET & HEAD TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FIELD.
We've got buckets for you to use for pickin' (we need 'em back).
Please be aware that ours hold about 6 lbs. of berries & that's about $15.00

There's more fruit at the bottom of the rows because most people start picking at the top, get their buckets
filled and never make it to the bottom. If you're a serious picker or looking for larger fruit,
we STRONGLY recommend starting at the bottom of the field/rows.

THE 2006 RIPE FRUIT GRID

I created this timeline based on our picking dates from 2006. I'm sharing it so you can get a GENERAL IDEA of approximate dates that the fruits could be ripe. Keep in mind -- EVERY YEAR IS DIFFERENT. And picking dates can swing one way or the other A MONTH, at times. It's all dependent on the weather. If we have a really warm/early spring -- they could be ripe sooner.

If it's really cool -- it could be up to a month or so LONGER before they're ready to pick.
